Alfios Mayoyo has 24 years’ experience in the agricultural sector with vast in agriculture policy and rural development, management and coordination of livelihoods, resilient and food security programmes. He is current CAFP’s Manager Research, Capacity Building and Outreach Programmes, Has 15 years’ experience from the public sector where he worked in the policy and planning department of the Ministry of Agriculture. He was responsible for both Government and donor programme coordination, strategic grain management policy, policy development, including agriculture sector policies and pricing policy. Contributed to the development of key Ministry of Agriculture policy and strategy documents including the National Agriculture Policy Framework, Agriculture and Food Systems Transformation, Horticulture Development and Recovery Plan and Livestock Development and Recovery Plan. Has experience in agricultural policy research, analysis, formulation and coordination of agricultural policy programmes and activities. Has worked for Indaba Agricultural Policy Research Institute as the Country Liaison Officer, regional policy think where he gained valuable experience in policy development processes, policy briefs and advisory notes writing. He was responsible for the programme’s policy research, outreach and capacity building support of the Zimbabwe’s Livelihood and Food Security Programme whose aim was strengthening evidence and analysis to influence policy and private sector investments. Has programme design and implementation experience from the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations where he worked as a Programme Assistant for three years. Has experience in administration of quasi funded programmes and management as he worked for five (5) years for the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe. Has experience in programme coordination as he coordinated the Livelihoods and Food Security Programme (US$75 million) and the Zimbabwe Resilience Building Fund (US$93 million).  Has contributed to a number of working papers, advisory notes, policy briefs and infographics.

 

Alfios Mayoyo holds qualifications in agriculture and development fields. He has a Masters in Development Studies (2015) from Midlands State University, Masters in Business Administration (2005) and BSc Degree in Agricultural Economics (1996) from the University of Zimbabwe. Has several certificates of attendances from various institutions and organisation from the region and beyond.
