ReSAKSS Annual Conference

The Center for Agriculture and Food Policy (CAFP) helped to organize and participated in the 2022 ReSAKSS Annual Conference under the theme “Agri-food Processing Strategies for Successful Food Transformation in Africa” held in Harare 25-27 October 2022. The conference was a huge success and was graced by high level officials from the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development (MLAFWRD).

Participants discussed the research evidence and recommendations presented in the 2022 Annual Trends and Outlook Report (ATOR) on the contribution of Africa’s agri-food processing sectors to employment, poverty reduction and food systems transformation. The three-day conference also reviewed the contribution of the agri-food processing sector to productive, sustainable food systems that support livelihoods and food security. CAFP Interim Chief Executive Officer Dr Antony Chapoto participated in a panel discussion and presented a paper titled “dynamics in Africa’s agrifood processing sector and performance of key agrifood industries”.
